Manchester:Unplugged
Tells The Stories Behind the Songs From The City
Manchester: Unplugged is my original music documentary series for StreamGM, that digs beneath the surface of the city’s musical identity, one song at a time.
Filmed in cinematic style across venues, rehearsal rooms and creative spaces in Greater Manchester, each short documentary film blends reimagined performances with honest storytelling, revealing the sparks, setbacks, creative process and inspiration behind songs from the city.
New Episodes
Salo Manchester:Unplugged
Salo opens up about arriving in Manchester as a young asylum seeker, and how the city has shaped the artist, producer and songwriter she is today.
Her family fled Georgia when she was a baby, following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the instability that brought extreme hardship and poverty to the country. At the heart of this short film is 'Set Me Free', her powerful, soulful track with a slice of jungle energy, written during a difficult patch in her relationship.
Freequency3 Manchester:Unplugged
Freequency3 AKA Olivia Lee, is a Manchester based freestyle rapper and vocalist whose career in trampolining, dance and DJing was abruptly ended due to complex health conditions. Through candid conversation, my film explores how Olivia harnessed music through chronic pain and hidden disability, protecting her mental wellbeing and turning that journey into a music career.
Olivia performs single ‘No More’ and opens up about the story behind her self-written, self-produced track.
